Family of Eldar Dayan Vows Justice Amid Police Investigation Controversy

Eldar Dayan was buried on Tuesday, leaving his family struggling to come to terms with his death. The family expressed anger toward a police investigator involved in the case, accusing her of misleading them by claiming there was a 98% chance he was alive and that the police were close to finding and arresting him. One of Dayan's aunts said, "Before they even questioned him, they turned him into a criminal. We will make sure she pays for this," adding they have recordings of her statements.

The family also alleged that Dayan's body was found incomplete, with two teeth missing, and that identification was only possible through a jawbone examination. They remain unsettled by the police's portrayal of Dayan as a criminal, insisting he was far from that. The Israel Police responded by expressing condolences and affirming their commitment to uncovering the truth and prosecuting those responsible.

Investigators conducted several searches in the area before discovering Dayan's remains. Near the scene, they found a recent excavation site without DNA evidence and no signs of a dug-up area. According to the police, Dayan and two suspects fled upon spotting a police vehicle, hiding in open terrain for about half an hour. Authorities have footage showing the three leaving a rest stop and heading toward the area where Dayan was later found.

The case remains under investigation, with the police continuing efforts to clarify the circumstances of Dayan's death and hold any perpetrators accountable.
