Eldar Dayan Family Threatens Legal Action Against Police Over Investigation

The family of the late Eldar Dayan is threatening legal proceedings against the police, demanding an investigative committee be formed. Dayan's parents, represented by attorney Sapir Pardo, sent a pre-litigation notice to the police detailing serious accusations regarding the Dimona police station's handling of the investigation into his disappearance and death.

The family alleges that from the outset of the investigation, incorrect decisions were made at the station based on prejudice and an incomplete picture. The letter claims that investigators failed to pursue key lines of inquiry, did not properly collect and preserve forensic and digital evidence, did not thoroughly examine contradictions in witnesses' accounts, and neglected necessary confrontations and further investigative steps.

They are demanding an investigative committee to examine the conduct of all personnel at the Dimona station involved in the case, "from the patrol officers to the station commander." The family also requests that the investigation be re-examined by senior officials who have not yet been involved.

"Had the police not delayed in examining these matters from the first week, would Eldar be alive today?" the letter questions, warning that if a satisfactory response is not received, they will consider further legal action.
