IDF Soldier Arrested in Connection With Brutal Murder in Shfaram

Israeli police have announced the arrest of an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldier in connection with the August murder of Hisham Hujirat in Shfaram. The 24-year-old suspect, from Bi'ina, was apprehended while allegedly attempting to destroy evidence by setting a getaway vehicle on fire, reportedly carrying a bottle of gasoline at the time of his arrest.

Investigators from Lahav 433's elite Yaha'bal unit believe the soldier was hired to eliminate Hujirat and then tasked with concealing the crime. The motive is believed to stem from a violent feud between two major crime families in northern Israel, the Suwad and Khaldi gangs.

Hujirat was shot multiple times at close range while inside his vehicle on August 12. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene. Following the murder, police launched an intensive investigation, gathering forensic evidence that led to the soldier's identification and arrest.

A statement of charges has been filed against the soldier, paving the way for a formal indictment and a request for his detention until the end of legal proceedings. The case highlights the escalating violence among crime organizations in northern Israel and the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating organized crime.
