Ofer Cassif Vows Legal Fight After Election Disqualification
Member of Knesset Ofer Cassif announced on Wednesday that he will appeal to the High Court of Justice following the Central Elections Committee's decision to disqualify him from running in the upcoming elections. Cassif characterized the ruling as predetermined and lacking any legal basis, attributing it to the "Netanyahu coalition and the Kahanists and their helpers from the 'Change Bloc.'" He further stated that this "dictatorial governmental coup," aimed at eliminating the independence of "gatekeepers" and opponents of the government, has now reached the Elections Committee.
Cassif asserted that the disqualification will not deter him, declaring, "It won't help the fascists and their helpers! I will continue to fight for the representation of my voters and for the values of peace, equality, and genuine Jewish-Arab partnership in the next Knesset as well."
He believes the decision is part of a broader effort to suppress dissent and undermine democratic institutions. Cassif's appeal is expected to be heard by the High Court, which will ultimately decide on his eligibility to run.
