Nissan X-Trail Unveiled with New Design and Hybrid Powertrain

Nissan has revealed a new generation of its X-Trail SUV, marking 26 years since the model's debut. The fourth-generation X-Trail, first shown in April 2021 and recently updated, shares a platform with the Mitsubishi Outlander. A North American version, the Nissan Rouge, has been launched ahead of the European release expected in about a year, which will also determine its arrival in Israel.

The exterior features a sharp, angular design inspired by the Hyper Adventure concept and the Juke EV. The front incorporates Nissan's signature V-motion grille, extending to the headlights, with a honeycomb pattern and a distinctive lower grille. The profile retains similarities to the outgoing model but includes prominent black wheel arches and a redesigned rear pillar creating a floating roof effect. Wheels are available in 18 or 19 inches. The rear features pointed taillights connected by a dotted light bar.

Dimensions remain largely unchanged, with a length of 4.65 meters, width of 1.85 meters, height of 1.72 meters, and a wheelbase of 2.70 meters. The interior is completely redesigned with an angular dashboard, V-shaped center console, and integrated 12.3-inch or 14.3-inch digital displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system. The infotainment system runs on Google, offering Google Maps, Gemini assistant, an app store, and wireless smartphone connectivity.

Comfort features include an optional Bose sound system, head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and heated cup holders. Safety is enhanced with Nissan's ProPILOT system, which includes advanced semi-autonomous driving features like hands-free driving and automatic lane changes, depending on regional specifications.

The new X-Trail will be powered by a 1.5-liter, 3-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine (148 hp) paired with two electric motors, providing all-wheel drive. The front electric motor produces 202 hp and the rear 134 hp, drawing power from a 1.67 kWh battery. The combined output is 225 hp, with the primary drive being electric.
