Israel's National Insurance Institute Advances Benefit Payments Ahead of Sukkot Holiday

Israel's National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) advanced the payment of several long-term benefits on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, due to the upcoming Sukkot holiday. The early disbursement ensures recipients receive their state support on time despite the holiday schedule. The accelerated payments include benefits for the elderly, survivors who lost their breadwinner, and compensation for work-related injuries. Additionally, alimony payments, disability benefits, mobility and long-term care allowances, and special payments for prisoners of Zion were also processed ahead of their usual schedule.

This early distribution follows closely on the heels of children's allowance payments, which were also disbursed early. Bituah Leumi had previously announced adjustments to its usual operational schedule to accommodate the cycle of Jewish holidays in the autumn, including Rosh Hashanah. Earlier in September, on September 8, 2026, unemployment and guaranteed income benefits were paid out well before their standard dates.

Beyond benefit payments, other administrative deadlines were also adjusted. The deadline for employers and self-employed individuals nationwide to submit financial reports and pay current insurance contributions was September 15, 2026. The institute had previously informed recipients about these schedule changes in advance.
