Syria Investigates Mysterious Explosions at Military Sites, Eyes Israeli Involvement

Syrian authorities have launched a wide-ranging investigation into a series of mysterious explosions that have struck multiple arms depots and military installations across the country in recent weeks. A Syrian source close to the government confirmed to Israel's Kan public broadcaster that investigators are examining the possibility of Israeli involvement. However, Damascus has not yet made any official accusations.

The latest incident occurred Sunday night into Monday, with an explosion at a Syrian army arms depot south of Aleppo. The blast triggered secondary explosions and sent missiles stored at the site into the air, reportedly causing several injuries. This marks the third such incident in under two weeks.

Earlier, over ten Syrian soldiers were killed in an explosion at a military site in the Deir ez-Zor region in eastern Syria. Less than two weeks prior, another arms depot exploded near Idlib in northwestern Syria, also resulting in numerous casualties.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that the circumstances of these incidents are under thorough investigation and that findings will be released soon. Syria has previously accused Israel of strikes on its territory, including an alleged attack on the al-Duhur airbase about a month ago, which Damascus claimed was aimed at preventing a Turkish military presence in the region.
