Syria Investigates String of Mysterious Explosions, Considers Israeli Involvement

Syrian authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation into a series of mysterious explosions that have struck arms depots and military sites across the country in recent weeks. The Syrian Ministry of Defense announced the probe following three major blasts in less than two weeks, in Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, and Idlib.

A source close to the Syrian government confirmed in a conversation with "Kan News" that the investigation is examining the possibility of Israeli involvement in the incidents. However, no public or official accusation has been leveled against Jerusalem at this stage.

The latest incident occurred Monday night when a powerful explosion rocked a Syrian army weapons depot south of Aleppo in northern Syria. The blast triggered a chain reaction of secondary explosions, sending missiles stored at the site into the air and reportedly causing several injuries. This marks the third major explosion in under two weeks.

Earlier incidents include a deadly blast at a military site in the Deir ez-Zor region in eastern Syria, which killed over ten Syrian soldiers, and another arms depot explosion near Idlib in northwestern Syria less than two weeks prior, which also resulted in numerous casualties.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense stated that the circumstances of the events are being thoroughly investigated and that the findings will be released to the public soon. The report notes that Damascus has not hesitated to openly blame Israel in the past, citing an official accusation of Israeli responsibility for an attack on the Al-Dohur air base in northwestern Syria about a month ago, which aimed to thwart a Turkish military presence there.
