Syria Investigates Potential Israeli Role in Mysterious Arms Depot Explosions

Syrian authorities are investigating the possibility of Israeli involvement in a series of recent mysterious explosions targeting arms depots across the country, according to a report by Kan News. The latest incident occurred overnight, with massive explosions rocking a Syrian army weapons facility near Aleppo in northern Syria. The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed it is investigating the cause of the blasts and will soon announce its findings. A Syrian source close to the government told Kan News that authorities are examining Israel's potential role in these incidents, though no public accusations have been made yet.

The powerful explosion near Aleppo is the third such incident in less than two weeks. The blast caused secondary explosions that were visible from a great distance and resulted in missiles stored at the facility being launched into the air. Earlier in September, over ten Syrian soldiers were killed in an explosion at a military site in the Deir ez-Zor region in eastern Syria. Less than two weeks prior to that, a weapons depot near Idlib in the northwest also exploded, causing casualties.

While the recent Aleppo explosion resulted in only a few injuries, previous incidents have been more severe. The report recalls an Israeli airstrike over a month ago on the Al-Duhur air base in northwestern Syria, which Damascus officially blamed on Israel at the time. In the current situation, while not rushing to accuse Israel, Syrian officials consider it a potential suspect.
