Syria Investigates Mysterious Explosions, Considers Israeli Involvement

Syrian authorities are investigating the possibility of Israeli involvement in a series of mysterious explosions that have recently targeted weapons depots and military sites across the country. The probe comes after a large explosion rocked a Syrian army weapons depot south of Aleppo on the previous night. The Syrian Ministry of Defense confirmed it is investigating the circumstances of the blasts and will soon announce the findings.

A source close to Syrian authorities told Israel's Kan broadcasting that Damascus is considering Israel's potential role in these incidents, although no official or public accusation has been made yet. The Aleppo explosion is the third such incident in less than two weeks in different parts of Syria.

The recent blast caused secondary explosions, with stored rockets seen flying into the air due to the force of the detonation. Reports indicate that the Aleppo explosion injured several people but resulted in no fatalities. Earlier in the week, over ten Syrian soldiers were killed in an explosion at a military site in the Deir Ezzor region in eastern Syria. Less than two weeks prior, a weapons depot near Idlib in northwestern Syria exploded, also causing casualties.

Syria's investigation occurs as Damascus closely monitors Israeli activity within its borders. Just over a month ago, Israel reportedly struck the Al-Dhahir airbase in northwestern Syria to thwart a Turkish military deployment there. While Damascus officially accused Israel of that strike, it has not made a similar accusation regarding the recent explosions, though it is considering Israeli involvement as one possible scenario.
