Turkey Nabs 174 Suspects in Forex Fraud Scheme, Including 9 Israelis
Turkish authorities have apprehended 174 individuals suspected of involvement in a large-scale financial fraud operation, including nine Israeli citizens. The operation targeted 25 companies, 40 call centers, and financial offices operating within Turkey.
According to reports, the suspects allegedly used call centers to contact potential victims, persuading them to invest in financial markets. The network is accused of obtaining victims' personal and banking information, and then using it to steal funds and assets, including by hacking passwords obtained from clients.
Turkish authorities announced the seizure of assets believed to be linked to the criminal activities, valued at approximately 1.5 billion Turkish Lira. Additionally, 80 vehicles and 12 properties were confiscated, while bank accounts, crypto assets, and accounts associated with the targeted companies were frozen.
The specific roles and connections of the nine Israeli nationals within the network or their relationship to the targeted companies remain unclear.
