IDF Chief of Staff Tours West Bank Shooting Scene, Vows Continued Pursuit of Accomplices
The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, visited the scene of a shooting attack near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the Binyamin Brigade area. He conducted a tour, initial debriefing, and situation assessment alongside senior military and police officials, including the head of Central Command, the commander of the Judea and Samaria Division, and representatives from the Shin Bet security agency.
During the assessment, Kochavi ordered a lockdown of the Palestinian village from which the attacker originated. He also directed forces to continue the manhunt for individuals who aided the assailant and to proceed with sealing and demolishing the attacker's home. Kochavi extended condolences to the victim's family, noting that IDF forces swiftly apprehended the perpetrator.
He emphasized that the operation is ongoing, including field investigations, to identify and apprehend all those involved in assisting the attack. In preparation for the upcoming Yom Kippur holiday, forces in the area have been reinforced, and units are on high alert for immediate deployment to ensure security during the fast and prayer services.
Kochavi stressed that the IDF is operating with heightened vigilance across all fronts to thwart terrorism, counter any threat, and protect Israeli citizens.
