Gideon Kutz, Veteran 'Kol Yisrael' Paris Correspondent, Dies at 78
Gideon Kutz, a prominent journalist, historian, and former Paris correspondent for "Kol Yisrael" (Israel Radio), passed away on Sunday at the age of 78. Kutz served for four decades as a foreign correspondent in Europe, becoming a well-known voice reporting on international affairs for the Israeli public.
During his extensive career, Kutz covered numerous pivotal historical, security, and political events across the continent and beyond. His reporting included the fall of the Berlin Wall, the wars in Yugoslavia and Chechnya, the Middle East peace process, the Arab Spring, terrorist attacks in Europe, and the crisis in Ukraine.
Beyond his work as a news correspondent, Kutz was a respected researcher and historian specializing in the history of Hebrew and Jewish journalism in Europe. He also developed a significant academic career in media and culture. Kutz served as president of the Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in France for five years and was later appointed honorary president of the organization.
Kutz is survived by his wife, Yaffa Eiron-Kutz, a journalist and photographer, their son, and their daughter.
