Israel's Ben Gurion Airport and Border Crossings to Close for Yom Kippur

Israel's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV), Ramon Airport, and Haifa Airport will gradually cease operations on Sunday, September 20, in observance of Yom Kippur. The last departures from Terminal 1 at TLV are scheduled for 1:00 PM, with the final domestic landing at 1:10 PM. International flights at Terminal 3 will see their last departures and arrivals by 1:55 PM before operations halt.

Resumption of services will be staggered. At TLV's Terminal 3, the first international landing is expected on Monday, September 21, at 10:30 PM, followed by the first international departure at 11:30 PM. Terminal 1 will not reopen for international or domestic flights until Tuesday, September 22, at 2:00 AM.

Ramon Airport in Eilat will stop all air traffic after its last landing at 11:30 AM on Sunday. Flights will resume on Tuesday, September 22, at 6:00 AM. Haifa Airport will also conclude its operations with its final landing on Sunday at 2:00 PM, with air traffic restarting on Tuesday at 6:00 AM.

Land border crossings will also operate under special hours. The Allenby Bridge crossing will close at 11:00 AM on Sunday and reopen on Tuesday. Rabin crossing will close at 12:00 PM on Sunday and also reopen on Tuesday. The Yitzhak Rabin crossing between Eilat and Taba will cease operations at 1:00 PM on Sunday but is scheduled to reopen earlier than others, on Monday at 10:00 PM. The Jordan River crossing will close at 12:00 PM on Sunday, with the last passenger acceptance by 10:30 AM, and will resume normal hours on Tuesday.

The Israel Airports Authority advises all travelers to verify their flight and crossing times in advance, noting the varied return-to-operation schedules across different facilities.
