Israel Seizes Over 2 Kg of Synthetic Drug Smuggled from Thailand

Israeli authorities at Ben Gurion Airport have thwarted an attempt to smuggle over two kilograms of a suspected synthetic drug, identified as potentially being of the MDMB type, into the country. The illicit substance arrived in a package sent via courier service from Thailand.

The drug was cleverly disguised as printer ink fluid, contained within bottles bearing appropriate labeling. Customs officers became suspicious during routine inspection of incoming parcels. Initial tests indicated the presence of a synthetic narcotic.

Following the discovery, investigators from the Israel Police's drug enforcement unit and customs officials launched a joint operation. The package was tracked to the Yad Binyamin area, where the intended recipient, a resident of Abu Ghosh, was apprehended as he came to collect it.

During interrogation, the suspect claimed ignorance of the package's contents, stating a relative in Thailand had merely asked him to pick it up. The seized substance has been sent for forensic analysis by the Israeli Police's criminalistics laboratory. A court has extended the suspect's detention as the investigation continues.
