Iran Sets Terms for War's End, Awaiting Trump's Response

Iran has conveyed its conditions for ending regional conflicts to Washington via Qatar, stating it awaits a response from U.S. President Donald Trump. Mohsen Rezai, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, told Al Jazeera that Tehran's demands include a cessation of hostilities on all fronts, the release of frozen Iranian funds, and the lifting of a naval blockade.

Rezai also indicated that U.S. and Israeli actions could provide Iran with grounds to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, though he clarified no such decision has been made. He further issued a threat, stating that if Iran is attacked, it will strike U.S. bases and interests in the region with significantly greater force.

In parallel, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander Admiral Brad Cooper reported that over the past few months, the U.S. military has facilitated the passage of more than one billion barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz via over 2,000 tankers and ships. Cooper noted that due to U.S. sanctions on Iranian ports and vessels, Tehran has been unable to export any oil.

Rezai reiterated Iran's stance on his X account, stating that Tehran presented seven conditions to the U.S. administration for any negotiations to begin. He asserted that Washington must accept Iran's rights and terms to extricate itself from its current predicament and avoid further entanglement.
