Israeli Police Secure Significant Salary Upgrades After Decade of Negotiations

Significant agreements to improve the salaries of police officers across several units were reached on Thursday following lengthy negotiations with the Ministry of Finance, led by Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai. These advancements come after approximately ten years of efforts to address the issue.

Under the new agreements, Border Police combatants in Judea and Samaria will receive a higher salary grade, designated as 'Activity Level Aleph,' acknowledging the elevated risk, complexity, and unique nature of service in the region. The salary conditions for crime scene investigators, responsible for forensic identification, will also be upgraded.

Traffic accident investigators and officers will receive a monthly supplement of NIS 2,000, which will also be factored into their pension calculations. Additionally, officers in identification units and mobile labs already serving in their roles will permanently receive the 'Activity Level Aleph' salary grade. New officers recruited for these positions will be granted a NIS 2,000 monthly pension bonus alongside an adjusted salary grade.

The agreements were finalized after intensive staff work and professional negotiations involving the Police's Human Resources, Salary Planning, and Planning Division. The aim is to recognize the professionalism, responsibility, and contribution of officers to public safety. The police also indicated that efforts continue to raise the salaries of motorcycle officers.

Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai stated, "After a decade of efforts, we have succeeded in bringing significant good news to our officers. This is an important achievement that reflects recognition of the professional work, heavy responsibility, and dedication of Israel Police personnel. Our officers work day and night for the security of Israeli citizens, and it is our duty to ensure their salaries and service conditions reflect the responsibility placed upon them. We will continue to act decisively with all parties to promote salary supplements, improve service conditions, and strengthen our officers in all units of the Israel Police. This is my commitment to them."
