Israeli Police Buys Armored Vehicle for Chief at 2.2 Million Shekels
According to procurement reports released by the Israeli Police in response to Freedom of Information requests from the Tzalah organization, on November 15, 2025, the police purchased an armored vehicle for the Police Commissioner, Major General Danni Levi, at a cost of 2.2 million shekels. Additionally, in December 2023, the police acquired two more armored Skoda vehicles, each costing 2.8 million shekels. The police stated that the more expensive vehicles were intended for senior officials in government service but declined to provide further details. The procurement report lists the financial commitment as being on behalf of the Shin Bet security service, which actually purchased the vehicles. Recently, Calcalist reported that the state bought an Audi A8 "Security" model for the President or Prime Minister at a cost of 4.9 million shekels. Industry sources explain that the high costs of these armored vehicles stem from extensive security upgrades, including physical reinforcements that can add over a ton to the vehicle's original weight.
