Jaffa Man Charged with Murder in Car Bombing in Holon

A 34-year-old resident of Jaffa, Ghazi Ashkar, has been indicted for the murder of Mustafa Abu Lisan in Holon in June. The indictment, filed by the State Prosecutor's Office, alleges that Ashkar, along with accomplices, planned and executed the killing by attaching an explosive device to Abu Lisan's vehicle. The investigation, led by the Tel Aviv District's Central Unit, revealed that Ashkar and others targeted Abu Lisan, a man known to police, with the intention of causing his death by detonating a bomb in his car.

Ashkar and his associates allegedly tracked Abu Lisan, attaching a tracking device and the explosive to his car. The bomb was detonated as Abu Lisan parked his vehicle at a gas station in Holon, causing his death. The powerful explosion also severely damaged seven other vehicles nearby, with two completely destroyed. Following the murder, Ashkar reportedly handed over the vehicle used in the crime to a car dealer, instructing him to destroy the license plates.

The indictment charges Ashkar with murder under aggravated circumstances, conspiracy to commit a crime, altering a vehicle's identity, and obstruction of justice. The prosecution has requested that Ashkar be held in custody until the end of legal proceedings. In their request, they emphasized the premeditated nature of the crime, the acquisition of the explosive device, and the use of duplicate license plates to facilitate the murder and escape. They also highlighted the public setting of the attack, occurring midday near a busy gas station, posing a significant risk to bystanders.
