Teenager Killed in Deadly Hit-and-Run, Driver Shot in Hadera
A 17-year-old boy, Amihai Attia, was killed early Friday morning after being run over during a criminal incident at the "Village" commercial complex in Hadera. The driver of the vehicle sustained minor injuries from gunfire, according to police. Initial investigations suggest the incident began with a verbal altercation between several parties, during which the teen was struck by the vehicle. Gunfire then erupted at the scene, injuring the driver. Police forces arrived, collected evidence, and initiated an investigation, with the case later assigned to the central unit of the Menashe district. Police confirmed the incident is being treated as criminal, with no indications of a security-related motive. Reports indicate the incident started when Attia and another young man arrived for a religious event and confronted the driver, a resident of Kafr Manda, who was unloading goods. During the confrontation, the driver got into his vehicle and hit Attia, while the other young man allegedly fired shots, causing minor injuries to the driver. The driver was apprehended shortly after near a police station, claiming he feared for his life and tried to escape. The young man suspected of firing the shots was also arrested. The Shin Bet initially participated in the investigation but withdrew after ruling out a nationalistic motive. In a separate incident, a man in his thirties was seriously injured in a violent incident in Tayibe on Friday morning.
