Clalit to Build Major Logistics Center in Beersheba

Clalit Health Services is set to invest approximately NIS 400 million to establish an advanced logistics center in Beersheba, southern Israel. This strategic move aims to bolster the region's logistical independence and medical continuity during both routine operations and emergencies, drawing lessons from recent conflicts and security threats.

The new facility will span about 23 dunams (5.7 acres) with over 27,500 square meters of built space. It will feature automated systems for inventory management, picking, and distribution, designed to meet Clalit's southern needs for at least the next two decades. Currently, Clalit operates two logistics centers in Shoham and Haifa; the southern hub is intended to diversify risk and create an independent logistical backbone.

This center will enable critical medical supplies to be stored in the south, ensuring immediate distribution even in extreme scenarios like infrastructure damage or blocked transportation routes. It will serve as a key medical-logistical anchor for all Clalit members in the south, providing rapid response to Soroka and Yoseftal hospitals, hundreds of community clinics, and local pharmacies. The tri-location strategy, with hubs in the north, center, and south, will reduce reliance on central transit routes and shorten delivery times.

Ido Lax, Clalit's Head of Assets in the Strategic Development and Projects Division, stated that this essential infrastructure will serve southern residents for at least 15 years and ensure operational continuity in emergencies. He also highlighted the significant support from Beersheba Mayor Rubik Danilovich in advancing the project. Hadva Amona, Clalit's Southern District Manager, added that the center's establishment is a direct outcome of wartime lessons, reinforcing regional autonomy and ensuring prompt, quality care for residents of the Negev and Eilat.

Beyond its medical and operational functions, the center is expected to create over 100 jobs in pharmacy, operations, and administration, boosting the local employment market. Mayor Danilovich welcomed the choice of Beersheba, calling it significant news for the city and the entire Negev region after a two-year courtship. He noted that Clalit's largest logistics center in Israel, located in Beersheba, signifies confidence in the city as a major Israeli metropolis and a key national destination, alongside the relocation of IDF elite units and the establishment of a new medical center.
