Israel Launches International Tender for New 600-Bed Medical Center in Beersheba

The Israeli Ministries of Health and Finance have announced the launch of an international architectural tender for the new "Peres" Medical Center in Beersheba. This major healthcare project aims to significantly expand medical services in the Negev region, addressing population growth and reducing healthcare disparities between southern Israel and the central areas. The hospital will be built on approximately 430 dunams in a new urban district in eastern Beersheba, near the Sarah Interchange.

In its initial phase, the medical center will include 600 inpatient beds. A key feature of the plan is the integration of the Beersheba Mental Health Center into the new complex, promoting a comprehensive approach that combines physical and mental health services for improved patient care continuity. The hospital will be jointly owned by the Meuhedet and Leumit health funds and operated by the Sheba Medical Center.

While the tender marks a crucial step in the project’s development, actual construction has not yet begun. The architectural and master planning process will establish the foundation for the hospital’s design and layout. The new center is expected to set international standards in both medical care and architectural quality, becoming a central healthcare infrastructure in southern Israel and enhancing access to hospitalization, general medicine, and mental health services closer to residents’ homes.
