Clalit to Build Major Southern Logistics Hub in Beersheba

Clalit Health Services plans to construct a new logistics center in Beersheba, with an investment of 400 million shekels. This facility will be responsible for supplying medical goods to hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies across southern Israel. The project aims to ensure uninterrupted medical supply chains, both during normal operations and in emergency situations.

The decision was influenced by recent escalations, including Iranian missile strikes that caused significant damage to infrastructure in southern Israel, such as Soroka Hospital, leading to disruptions in medicine delivery. Clalit concluded that the southern healthcare system requires its own independent logistics center.

The new center will be built on a 23-dunam site, with over 27,500 square meters of above-ground space. It will feature advanced automated systems for inventory management, order fulfillment, and distribution. Clalit estimates the complex will meet its storage and delivery needs for at least the next 20 years.

Currently, Clalit's main logistics centers are located in Shoham and Haifa. The Beersheba facility will serve as a third, southern hub, reducing reliance on road and rail infrastructure and shortening delivery times. It will directly supply Soroka Hospital, Yoseftal Hospital, and hundreds of other facilities in the south.

Clalit stated that the center is a response to existing threats, allowing for risk diversification and ensuring critical medical supplies are available for immediate delivery even if infrastructure is damaged or roads are blocked. Beersheba Mayor Rubik Danilovich called the project significant for the city and the Negev region, noting it will create over 100 jobs.
