Maccabi Tel Aviv's Bid for Rapid Bucharest Midfielder Rejected
Maccabi Tel Aviv attempted to sign Rapid Bucharest midfielder Claudiu Petrila before the transfer window closed, but their offer was rejected. According to Romanian reports, the Israeli club offered 1.5 million euros for the player, who scored five goals and provided eight assists last season. Maccabi Tel Aviv also reportedly offered Petrila a net monthly salary of 25,000 euros.
Rapid Bucharest refused to sell the winger, who joined them from CFR Cluj for 800,000 euros. During his time with the Bucharest club, Petrila has made 105 appearances, scoring 20 goals and contributing 31 assists. He also has two caps for the Romanian national team.
Reports also indicate that Maccabi Haifa had previously shown interest in the player. Ultimately, Maccabi Tel Aviv was unable to secure a foreign player before the transfer deadline, and their target, Ion Nicolaescu, remained with the club.
