Prisoners Indicted for Attacking Settler Suspected of Violence Against Palestinians

Two inmates have been indicted for assaulting Tal Yinon Dardik, a settler suspected of violence against Palestinians, within Nitzan Prison. The indictment, filed Thursday, details an incident that occurred last weekend in the prison yard where Dardik was involved in an argument with other inmates. Two criminal prisoners then allegedly attacked Dardik, punching him in the face and causing an injury near his eye requiring medical attention. During the assault, one of the attackers threatened Dardik, saying, "You are settlers, we will kill you."

The investigation was conducted by the Israel Prison Service (IPS), and the indictment names Muhalel Agbaria-Hariri, son of a senior figure in the Hariri family, and Ibrahim Gurban as the accused. Dardik himself has recently been at the center of a dispute between Defense Minister Israel Katz and the commander of the Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth.

Bluth, on the recommendation of the Shin Bet, had issued an administrative supervision and restriction order against Dardik due to suspicions of involvement in violence against Palestinians. However, Katz supported lifting these restrictions and ordered they not be renewed. The disagreement intensified when Bluth and the prosecution appealed the cancellation of the order, leading to a public confrontation between the minister and the general regarding Bluth's continued tenure in the Central Command.
