Prisoner Attacked, Injured by Fellow Inmates Over Nationalistic Motives

An Israeli prisoner, Tal Yinon Dardik, sustained a head injury during an assault by two Arab inmates within a correctional facility. According to police reports requesting an extension of the suspects' detention, the two men allegedly attacked Dardik, striking him and causing a laceration to his head. During the assault, they reportedly shouted nationalistic slogans at him, including "settler," "we will eliminate you," and "you are harming Al-Aqsa." Police are treating the incident as a racially motivated assault.

The suspects have been identified by "HaKol HaYehudi" as Muhalel Agbaria from Jaljulia and Ibrahim Gurban from Jisr al-Zarqa. Both are currently being held pending trial for unrelated criminal offenses. Agbaria is detained for the severe assault of a teenager in a grocery store, while Gurban is held for his involvement in a violent robbery at a gas station with his family members. During a hearing at the Rishon LeZion Magistrate's Court, the suspects' lawyer stated that prison authorities had restrained his clients to their beds following the incident. Their detention for investigative purposes has been extended until Wednesday.

Following the attack, Dardik required medical attention and was transferred by the Israel Prison Service to a different facility. Dardik, a resident of Kfar Tzurif in the Benjamin region, had previously been administratively removed from his home by a military order issued by the Central Command General. Initially placed under house arrest, he was later detained and went on a hunger strike when that proved unfeasible. After several weeks and public outcry, he was released under a new order restricting him from Judea and Samaria and requiring daily police reporting. He was arrested again approximately two weeks ago on suspicion of violating the terms of this order.
