Israeli Police Arrest Two East Jerusalem Men in Silwan Murder Investigation

Jerusalem District police announced the arrest of two East Jerusalem men, both in their twenties, in connection with the June 30, 2026, shooting death of 22-year-old Hussein Issa in the Silwan neighborhood of East Jerusalem. The suspects were apprehended by Unit 33 of Lahav 433 in a raid on a house in Hebron.

Police stated that the shooting also left Issa with moderate injuries before he succumbed to his wounds. Following the incident, Jerusalem District Commander Afshlom Bied assessed the situation and tasked the Special Tasks Unit of the Jerusalem District Central Unit with the investigation. Detectives from the "Yamar" unit, working with the District Prosecution, uncovered that the motive stemmed from a family feud that escalated through social media insults, leading to a planned meeting where the shooting and murder occurred.

Investigators, in collaboration with Unit 33, Lahav 433, and the Yehuda Hitz center, gathered intelligence on the suspects' whereabouts. The suspects were arrested after their Hebron residence was raided. An indictment statement was filed against them on September 19, 2026, and their detention was extended until September 20, 2026, with an indictment expected to follow.

The investigation involved the use of a drone and police dogs during the Hebron raid. The victim, Hussein Issa, was identified as being from Silwan.
