Jerusalem Police Solve Silwan Murder, Two Suspects Charged
Jerusalem District Police's Central Unit has solved the murder of Hussein Issa, 22, who was shot and killed in the Silwan neighborhood on June 30, 2026. His brother was moderately wounded in the same incident. Two suspects, both residents of East Jerusalem in their 20s, have been arrested and a statement of charges has been filed against them, with indictments expected on September 20, 2026.
The investigation revealed that the shooting stemmed from an ongoing family dispute involving mutual slander, including on social media. The parties involved arranged a meeting to resolve the conflict, during which the suspects allegedly opened fire on Issa and his brother.
The suspects were apprehended in Hebron during a joint operation involving the Central Unit, Unit 33 of Lahav 433, and the Arrow Yehuda unit of the Judea and Samaria District. Their detention has been extended multiple times throughout the investigation. Following the filing of the statement of charges, their remand was extended until September 20, 2026, the anticipated date for the indictment.
