Herzog Calls for Stable Government Post-Election, Offers Mediation in Netanyahu Trial

President Isaac Herzog stated on Thursday that Israel requires a stable government following the upcoming elections, emphasizing he will not remain passive and will intervene if the political situation necessitates it. Speaking in an interview with Kan radio, Herzog expressed his hope for increased stability and calm after the elections, revealing his concern over the current political climate. "If I find a political situation that requires my intervention and assistance, I will do so," he said, adding, "I will not sit on the sidelines."

Herzog also addressed the ongoing trial of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stating his belief that the case "must be concluded." He revealed that he had previously proposed mediation under the auspices of the President's office, suggesting that the trial's principles could be resolved through a settlement. While Netanyahu has not yet responded to the proposal, Herzog indicated that the possibility of reaching a settlement remains open.

Regarding the film "Naza" and decision-making processes during wartime, Herzog commented that every IDF unit has a legal advisor involved in decision-making. He noted instances where cabinet decisions were postponed to prevent collateral damage. Herzog described the film as a "shame and a scandal."
