National Cyber Directorate Warns of Sophisticated Booking.com Phishing Scams
Israel's National Cyber Directorate issued a public warning on Wednesday regarding new phishing attempts that impersonate booking confirmations from Booking.com. The fraudulent messages direct recipients to a fake website designed to look like the official Booking.com platform, urging them to click a link to confirm their hotel reservations.
What makes this particular scam more dangerous is the inclusion of real booking details, such as stay dates and reservation numbers, within the phishing messages. This use of accurate information may lead recipients to believe the communication is legitimate.
The Cyber Directorate advises the public not to click on links within such messages. Individuals seeking to verify their booking status should do so directly through the official Booking.com website or app, bypassing any provided links. Those who have already entered credit card details on a suspicious site are urged to contact their credit card company immediately. Reporting these scam attempts to the National Cyber Directorate's hotline at 119 is also recommended.
