New York Times Removes Controversial Sentence About Israelis' Victimhood

The New York Times has apologized and removed a sentence from an article about the documentary "Accidental Damage" (NAZA) following criticism that it implied Israelis do not view themselves as victims of the October 7th attacks. The deleted sentence stated, "Israelis still largely see themselves as victims of October 7th."

The newspaper's editorial team clarified that this was an "editing error" and that the original text "mistakenly implied that Israelis' experience as terror victims is a matter of perception." This statement caused significant backlash, with Israel's Embassy in Washington spokesperson, Tal Naim, writing to the newspaper, "What you published is simply an unmasked version of the attitude you have expressed towards the State of Israel over the past three years."
