Council Head Claims Gadi Eisenkot Pledged to Include Ra'am in Government
A recording has surfaced in which the head of the Touba-Zangaria local council, Muaiad Al-Hayeb, claims that Gadi Eisenkot, leader of the National Unity party, pledged to include the United Arab List (Ra'am) in the next government coalition. Al-Hayeb stated in an interview with Radio Nas that Eisenkot explicitly said Ra'am would be an "inseparable part" of the coalition and the government, and that contacts were already underway to facilitate their joining.
Al-Hayeb further alleged that Eisenkot committed to actively working to bring Ra'am into the government if tasked with forming one, saying Eisenkot would "extend a hand to Ra'am so it would join the government."
The National Unity party has vehemently denied these claims, stating that "the things were never said, not even by implication." The party added that "parties that do not recognize Hamas as a terrorist organization that Israel must destroy will not be part of the government we form."
