IDF Chief of Staff Denounces Gaza Film as Smear Campaign

IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir on Wednesday vehemently rejected the film "Nez'a," which presents testimonies alleging indiscriminate IDF harm to civilians in the Gaza Strip. Zamir characterized the film as an "attempt to smear IDF soldiers and their commanders in various ways, using baseless lies and manipulations."

"We must stand on every platform and before every accuser and state clearly: the IDF is the most moral army in the world," Zamir declared. He contrasted the film's claims with the reality of deliberate attacks on Israeli civilians, barbaric raids targeting civilian populations, and missile launches at Israeli cities, asserting that the IDF adheres to its values and international law while striving to avoid civilian casualties.

Two days prior, Zamir convened a meeting with senior military officials, including his deputy, the head of operations, the chief military prosecutor, the air force commander, the head of Unit 8200, and the IDF spokesperson, to discuss the film. During that meeting, Zamir stated the film was "based on blood libels, a deliberate distortion of reality, and false and serious accusations against IDF soldiers and their commanders."

At that time, Zamir announced that the IDF would pursue legal, command, and public relations channels to counter the film's allegations. As part of this effort, he ordered the establishment of a team to formulate strategies for addressing false claims against the IDF. This team will examine potential legal actions against the film and its creators, as well as investigate information security aspects related to the alleged leaking of classified materials used in the film's production.
