IDF Chief of Staff Defends Soldiers Amidst Smear Campaign Allegations

IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi addressed what he described as attempts to tarnish the reputation of IDF soldiers and commanders, referencing the recent "Nitzan" (NZA) controversy. Speaking at an event honoring donors to the Association for the Soldier, Kochavi stated that countering these efforts is a "national and international mission."

Kochavi asserted that these smear campaigns employ baseless lies and manipulations, aiming to undermine the integrity of the military. He emphasized the Jewish concept of mutual responsibility, 'Kol Yisrael Arevim Zeh LaZeh,' as a foundation for understanding the individual's duty to the nation's welfare.

"This important parable is expressed in attempts to tarnish IDF soldiers and commanders in various ways, using lies and baseless manipulations," Kochavi said. He stressed the need to confront these accusations on all platforms, declaring, "The IDF is the most moral army in the world!"

Addressing the ongoing conflict, Kochavi highlighted the IDF's commitment to its values and international law, even in the face of deliberate attacks on Israeli civilians and missile launches targeting cities. He stated that the army does everything possible to avoid harming innocent civilians, despite the barbarity of enemy actions.
