IDF Chief of Staff Defends Military Morality Amidst Discrediting Attempts

Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir, the Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), on Wednesday condemned efforts to discredit the Israeli military and its commanders. Speaking at a ceremony honoring donors to the Association for the Well-being of Israeli Soldiers, Zamir invoked a Talmudic principle of collective responsibility, stating it reflects individual accountability for national security.

Zamir asserted that this principle is particularly relevant in the face of what he described as baseless lies and manipulation aimed at denigrating IDF soldiers and commanders. He urged a response to these accusations on all platforms, both domestically and internationally, emphasizing that "we must take this on every stage and in the face of every accusation, stating clearly that the IDF is the most moral army in the world."

The IDF chief of staff also defended the military's conduct in operations targeting civilian populations. He stated that in response to deliberate attacks on Israeli citizens, a "barbaric invasion" against civilians, and missile fire towards population centers, the IDF remains committed to its values and international law. Zamir further assured that the Israeli military makes every effort to avoid harming innocent individuals during its operations.
