IDF Chief of Staff Denounces Smear Campaigns Against Soldiers
Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Aviv Kochavi stated that attempts to tarnish the reputation of Israel Defense Forces soldiers and commanders are being carried out using baseless lies and manipulation. He invoked the Jewish concept 'Kol Yisrael arevim zeh lazeh' (all of Israel are responsible for one another) to underscore the collective duty to defend the IDF's honor.
Kochavi asserted that countering these smear campaigns is a national and international mission. He emphasized that the IDF must clearly articulate on every platform that it is the most moral army in the world, committed to its values and international law, while striving to avoid harming innocent civilians.
He made these remarks in a context where the IDF faces criticism and alleged attempts to discredit its personnel, which he characterized as fundamentally untrue and manipulative. The Chief of Staff stressed the importance of upholding the IDF's ethical standards and its adherence to international legal frameworks.
