Israel Strikes Hamas Rafah Brigade Commander in Gaza Airstrike

The Israeli military and Shin Bet conducted an airstrike via drone Tuesday evening targeting the commander of Hamas's Rafah brigade in southern Gaza. While the results are still being assessed, security officials believe the operative was killed. The targeted individual had assumed his command in May of last year, succeeding Muhammad Shabanah, who was eliminated in Khan Yunis at that time. Following the operation, led by the Southern Command, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz issued a joint statement supporting the security forces. "Our message is clear: no terrorist is immune, and Hamas will not be in Gaza," they stated. This strike in Rafah follows a series of targeted assassinations against Hamas leadership in recent days. Last Thursday, Hamas's Khan Yunis brigade commander, Muhammad Yazouri, along with a company commander and another operative, were killed in Al-Mawasi. Yazouri had previously held various command positions within the organization and was recently working to rebuild the brigade's strength and advance numerous terror plans against IDF forces. Military pressure continued overnight with the elimination of Ahmed Batsch, commander of the Jabalia battalion. Batsch managed the weapons systems in the northern Gaza Strip and systematically violated ceasefires to restore the organization's capabilities. Concurrently, over the weekend, Mohsen Abu Dhaif, head of an Islamic Jihad rocket cell who participated in the October 7th massacre at Kibbutz Kissufim, was killed in Khan Yunis. The IDF and Shin Bet reported that precise munitions were used in these strikes and measures were taken to minimize civilian casualties.
