Israel's Envoy to UAE Predicts New Nation to Join Abraham Accords Soon

Israel's Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Yossi Shelley, announced on Tuesday his expectation that a new country will join the Abraham Accords within the next four to six months. He hinted that Kuwait could be the next nation to normalize relations with Israel, suggesting that Kuwaitis are beginning to understand the shifting regional dynamics. Shelley stated in an interview with "International Hour" on Kan News that efforts are underway to expand regional agreements, hinting at a potential surprise and confirming that "everyone is working on it."

Ambassador Shelley also discussed the strengthening ties between Israel and the UAE, noting ongoing cooperation and reciprocal visits, some of which are kept confidential due to regional sensitivities. He addressed reports claiming that UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed had warned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before the October 7th Hamas attack. Shelley denied any knowledge of such a warning, stating he was present during that period and does not recall any discussion or warning about the matter in the months leading up to the attack.

Despite these reports, Shelley asserted that the Israel-UAE relationship has remained unaffected, describing it as having "passed as if it never happened." He believes the bilateral ties are improving and cooperation is increasing.
