Palestinian suspect’s detention extended over alleged assault in Azor
Tel Aviv Magistrate’s Court extended by four days the detention of Ali Shahin, a 36-year-old Palestinian from the village of Dahariya near Hebron, on suspicion of attacking a woman in her 20s on a street in the Israeli town of Azor and committing an indecent act by force.
According to the report, Shahin says he only wanted to use the young woman’s phone. Police said there is reasonable suspicion that he carried out an indecent act using force and that he entered Israel illegally.
The court’s decision means Shahin will remain in custody for at least four more days while the investigation continues.
