Kenny Miller, whose future at Maccabi Tel Aviv is still undecided, said in an interview in Scotland that the Israeli club is just as demanding as Celtic, and perhaps even more so. Miller, the Scottish coach who first arrived as Ronnie Deila’s assistant and later became head coach, has finished the season, but Maccabi have not yet decided whether he will stay for another year.
Speaking on a local podcast, Miller was asked about former teammate Robbie Keane, one of the names linked with the Celtic job next season, and about criticism that Keane lacks coaching experience. Miller said Maccabi Tel Aviv could prepare Keane for that kind of role. “Absolutely yes,” he said.
He added that “Maccabi Tel Aviv is a team under pressure no less than Celtic, maybe even more. The pressure as a coach is almost equal. The media coverage is very high, and at Maccabi Tel Aviv you are expected to win every game, without exception.” Miller said that from his own experience, the job at Maccabi can help a coach handle the pressure at Celtic.
