Maccabi Tel Aviv is still searching for its head coach for next season, and Scottish coach Kenny Miller has become one of the final candidates. The club is expected to make a decision by Monday, after Miller held a Zoom call with newly appointed sporting director Steven Van Anren.
Miller, who had not previously been considered, worked as assistant to Ronnie Deila and later replaced him after Deila left the job. He then guided Maccabi Tel Aviv to the State Cup title, making him a serious option for the role.
Club officials have also interviewed at least three other coaches. Some candidates, including one who had reportedly already been close to an agreement, fell out of contention because of the latest round of fighting with Iran. Because of the time pressure and Miller’s familiarity with the squad from last season, he may ultimately get the job.
The 46-year-old joined Maccabi Tel Aviv as part of Deila’s staff, after Deila was appointed in February 2026. Deila departed three months later following a complaint filed against him, and Miller took over for the final stretch of the season, including the cup final, which Maccabi Tel Aviv won 2-1 over Hapoel Be'er Sheva.
