Israel Extends Fire Ban Amid Dry Conditions Through End of September

The Israel Fire and Rescue Authority has extended a ban on lighting fires across the country due to dry weather conditions that increase the risk of wildfires. The order, issued by Fire Commissioner Maj. Gen. Eyal Caspi, prohibits lighting fires in brush areas nationwide, with the exception of the region south of Highways 25 and 34. The ban is effective from Tuesday, September 15, 2026, until Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at midnight.

Kaid Zahir, the official spokesperson for Arabic media for the Fire and Rescue Authority, emphasized that fires are only permitted in pre-approved locations designated by local authorities, the Nature and Parks Authority, or Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (JNF). Any permitted fires must be small, safe, and supervised according to specific instructions. Grilling and cooking fires are allowed only in approved areas.

The Fire and Rescue Authority will deploy hundreds of firefighters, fire prevention inspectors, and volunteers across Israel for patrols focused on prevention, monitoring, and rapid response to any emergencies. The authority also provided specific safety guidelines for permitted fires, including isolating the fire area, surrounding it with stones, ensuring adult supervision, keeping children at a safe distance, and completely extinguishing the fire with water and sand afterward.
