Israel Extends Fire Ban Amid Dry Conditions
The Fire and Rescue Services commander, Major General Eyal Caspi, has extended a nationwide ban on lighting fires until September 30, 2026. The decision, announced by spokesperson Kayed Daher, cites weather conditions that increase the risk of wildfires.
The ban prohibits lighting fires in brush areas across the country, with the exception of the region south of roads 25 and 34. It is effective from September 15, 2026, until midnight on September 30, 2026.
Fires are permitted only in designated areas approved by local authorities, the Nature and Parks Authority, or Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael (KKL-JNF). Any permitted fires must be small, safe, and supervised, adhering to specific instructions. Barbecuing is allowed only in approved locations.
The Fire and Rescue Services will deploy hundreds of firefighters, fire prevention inspectors, and volunteers nationwide for patrols, prevention efforts, monitoring, and rapid response to emergencies. Strict guidelines for permitted fires include maintaining a clear area, surrounding the fire with stones, adult supervision, keeping children at a safe distance, and ensuring the fire is completely extinguished with water and sand afterward.
