News Reporter Slams Colleagues Over Venice Film Festival Award

News reporter Yaron Avraham of Channel 12 has sharply criticized Israeli journalists and the public for their automatic enthusiasm surrounding the documentary film 'Nezah' (directed by Yuval Avraham and Rachel Shore), which won the Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. Avraham expressed frustration on social media, stating he felt like screaming when Israelis present the IDF on the world stage as a murderous war machine, even against innocent civilians, without mentioning the October 7th attacks.

While Avraham stated he refrains from forming a final opinion before watching the film, he questioned why many of his colleagues and others in his social media feed were praising and sharing the film without having seen it. He specifically asked how it became the default for Israelis to believe the 'other side' and adopt 'subversive narratives' without necessarily verifying them.

Avraham urged everyone to wait until they have actually seen the film before making statements. He concluded by suggesting that everyone watch the film and then discuss it, but also asked those quick to applaud to re-examine their motivations for such 'blind identification.' The film's win has continued to stir controversy in Israel.
