National Insurance Institute Advances Payouts for Holidays, Issues Tax Deadline Alert
Israel's National Insurance Institute is adjusting payment schedules for millions of beneficiaries in September due to upcoming Jewish holidays. To accommodate the Rosh Hashanah holiday, unemployment and income support payments for September were advanced to September 8, 2026. For Sukkot, long-term benefit payments, including those for the elderly, survivors, work injury victims, alimony, disability, mobility, nursing, and "Prisoners of Zion" (a term for former Jewish prisoners in Arab countries), will be disbursed early on September 22, 2026.
The National Insurance Institute also issued an important alert regarding the deadline for self-employed individuals and employers to report and pay National Insurance fees, which is set for Tuesday, September 15. Child benefit payments are scheduled for September 20, coinciding with the eve of Yom Kippur.
Data indicates that the average benefit payment has increased since the beginning of 2026, rising by 2.64% due to an increase in the consumer price index. Following the latest update, the average value of various benefit types has reached approximately 5,280 shekels.
