National Insurance Announces Urgent Changes to Benefit Payments Ahead of Holidays
Israel's National Insurance Institute is implementing significant changes to benefit and allowance payments for September due to upcoming Jewish holidays. To accommodate the Rosh Hashanah holiday, payments for unemployment benefits and income support were advanced to September 8, 2026. Additionally, long-term benefit payments, including those for seniors, survivors, work injury victims, alimony, disability, mobility, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion, will be disbursed on September 22, 2026, in advance of the Sukkot holiday.
Self-employed individuals and employers must report and pay their insurance contributions by September 15, 2026. Child allowances are scheduled to be deposited on September 20, 2026, the eve of Yom Kippur.
These payment adjustments are occurring as average benefit amounts have risen by up to 2.64% since the beginning of 2026, attributed to an increase in the consumer price index. The average payment across all benefit types now stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
