Four Israelis and Palestinians Arrested in Cyprus With Large Drug Haul
Cypriot police announced Sunday the arrest of four individuals, an Israeli couple and a Palestinian couple, in Limassol, seizing over 126 kilograms of ketamine along with quantities of cocaine, mephedrone, and MDMA. A local court extended their detention for eight days. The arrests followed raids on two separate properties.
Investigators believe the suspects were part of an organized network smuggling drugs from Israel to Cyprus using luxury yachts docked in the marinas of Limassol and Larnaca. The drugs were allegedly concealed within paint cans.
At the first property, belonging to a 53-year-old Israeli man and his 51-year-old wife, officers found 34 grams of cocaine, 246.5 grams of ketamine, 15 grams of mephedrone, and 12 grams of MDMA. Additionally, 4,150 euros in cash and 42 packs of smuggled cigarettes were confiscated.
At the second property, owned by a 50-year-old Palestinian man and his 31-year-old wife, police seized 126 kilograms and 630 grams of ketamine, along with a digital scale. Their mobile phones were confiscated as evidence.
Police indicated the drugs were stored in the two homes for distribution, with the target market being Israelis residing in Cyprus, not local citizens.
