Modzitz Rebbe Hospitalized on Rosh Hashanah, Insists on Leading Services

The Rebbe of Modzitz experienced severe heart weakness on the first night of Rosh Hashanah and was taken to the hospital. Despite the recommendation of rescue forces to take him to Tel Hashomer Hospital, known for its cardiac facilities, the Rebbe insisted on being admitted to Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center in Bnei Brak. He was hospitalized there for treatment and monitoring.

On the morning of the holiday, the Rebbe expressed a strong desire to lead the holiday prayers, a tradition of the Modzitz dynasty. Hospital management suggested using a synagogue within the hospital to spare him exertion, but the Rebbe refused. He insisted on walking to his synagogue, a short ten-minute walk away.

Demonstrating immense dedication, the Rebbe left the hospital on the holiday morning and proceeded to his synagogue. He led the morning and additional services over the two days of Rosh Hashanah. The Modzitz Hasidic community is calling for prayers for the Rebbe's complete and swift recovery. He is known as Rabbi Chaim Shaul, son of Beyla Rachel, and prayers are requested for him within the broader context of prayers for all the sick among Israel.
