Nine Recruits Hospitalized with Stomach Aches After Rosh Hashanah Meal

Nine female recruits at the Nitzanim training base reported symptoms of stomach aches following a Rosh Hashanah dinner. The father of one recruit told Maariv that his daughter described panic at the base due to the incident. He also stated that one of the unwell recruits fell and broke her hand while on guard duty due to weakness.

While the recruits reported their symptoms, most, except for two, did not receive hospital treatment but medical attention at the base. The father reiterated that his daughter mentioned panic at the base because of the event.

A source from the IDF told Maariv that an investigation found no widespread illness among the recruits. A small number of female soldiers reported gastrointestinal symptoms, leading to active questioning of the entire company to identify additional cases. Approximately nine recruits met the case definition, received medical treatment, and were sent to rest within the unit. Medical officials are aware and monitoring the situation.

The IDF Spokesperson's Unit confirmed that there is no widespread illness at the Nitzanim training base. They stated that a limited number of female soldiers reported gastrointestinal symptoms and received medical attention and rest. Claims of spoiled food were investigated and dismissed, with no food shortages reported. The IDF emphasized its commitment to soldier health and stated that any further claims would be thoroughly investigated.
