IDF Training Base Faces Outbreak of Illness After Holiday Meal

Dozens of new recruits at the Nitzanim IDF training base reportedly fell ill with vomiting and diarrhea following a holiday meal for Rosh Hashanah. Parents of the recruits claim that a spoiled meat dish served at the base's dining hall caused the widespread sickness, with one father estimating at least fifty soldiers were affected. He stated his daughter reported a foul odor from the meat, leading some to refuse it and avoid illness. According to parents, affected female soldiers did not receive timely medical attention and were allegedly forced to continue guard duty despite their severe condition. One soldier reportedly collapsed on her way to duty due to illness, injuring her arm.

Following parental intervention, the base command issued a statement asserting that soldier welfare is a priority and that disinfection and personnel surveys were conducted. However, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit stated that only nine out of 229 recruits showed symptoms. The IDF claims these nine were examined by medical staff and sent to rest. A food sample test reportedly ruled out spoiled products as the cause, and kitchen supplies are functioning normally. The IDF maintains there was no widespread outbreak at Nitzanim.
